Privacy Policy

Effective September 26, 2026

This policy explains what ChessDrama Studio ("we", "us") collects when you use the studio, the cloud renderer and the community forum, what we do with it, and the choices you have. The short version: we keep what we need to run the service for you, we use Google Analytics and Stripe, and we do not share your data with anyone else.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your name, email address and a hashed password. We never see or store the password itself.
  • What you make. The games and effects you save as projects, the voice-over clips you record or upload, your presets, and the videos the cloud renderer produces from them.
  • Forum posts. Topics, replies and upvotes, under your account name.
  • How the service is used. Product events such as a project being saved, a render being queued or a forum topic being posted, tied to your account, so we can see what works and fix what does not. Sign-ins record the IP address and browser they came from.
  • Billing. Payment is handled by Stripe. We store the identifiers Stripe gives us for your customer record and subscription, its status and the date it is paid through. We never see or store card numbers.

Third parties

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used; it sets its own cookies and receives the usual page and event data. We use Stripe to take payments; when you subscribe, the details you enter on Stripe's checkout page go to Stripe under Stripe's privacy policy.

Beyond those two, we do not share your data with third parties. The services that host and run the platform, such as server hosting, video and audio storage and email delivery, process your data only on our behalf and only to provide the service to you. We do not sell data, and we do not give anyone access to your projects, recordings or videos for their own purposes.

Email we send

You will receive email from us for:

  • Verifying your address and resetting your password.
  • Letting you know when a cloud render is finished and ready to download.
  • Occasional product announcements about new features and changes to the service.
  • Forum notifications, when an admin or moderator replies in a topic you started. You can turn these off on your Account page.

How long we keep things

  • Projects, presets and forum posts stay until you delete them or your account.
  • Rendered videos stay available for download for seven days, after which they are removed from the download area. We may keep copies for quality control, as described in the Terms of Service.
  • Usage events and sign-in records are kept for as long as the account exists, so that we can investigate problems and abuse.
  • Billing records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require.

Cookies

We set one cookie of our own: the session that keeps you signed in. Google Analytics sets its cookies to tell visits apart. Stripe sets cookies on its own checkout and billing pages.

Your choices

  • You can change your name, password and email preferences on your Account page.
  • You can delete your projects, presets, renders and forum posts yourself.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it, or to send you a copy of your data. Start a topic on the forum and tick Private, so only platform staff can see it.

Children

ChessDrama Studio is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at younger children. Everyone confirms their age when they create an account, and a paid plan needs an adult. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us their details, tell us through the forum and tick Private. We will delete the account and everything in it, including any voice recordings and forum posts. Where your country sets a higher age for consenting to online services, a child under that age needs your permission before using the service.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the site or by email before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last updated.
